Scholarship: Ohio Chapter Engineering Scholarships

Attention:

The Ohio Chapter of the American Public Works Association is again offering scholarships for undergraduate Civil Engineering students who will enter their junior or senior year in the next school year. We would appreciate your assistance in advising students in your department of the availability of this scholarship.

Enclosed please find application forms that must be used by the students. These forms are also available on our website at http://ohio.apwa.net (please note there is no www in the web address). Also included is a poster to place on your bulletin board. Students should be advised that all required information be submitted with the application and that all eligibility requirements are met, since the Scholarship Committee will consider the quality, as well as the completeness of the submission in its evaluation.

Special attention is called to the fact that students must be permanent residents of Ohio and that applications are to be post marked no later than March 1, 2010. This material should be sent to:

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to worthy young men and women who are seeking a Civil Engineering Bachelor’s Degree which will be applicable to performance in the Public Works field.

The APWA-Ohio Chapter Board of Directors intends to award scholarship(s) for 2009-2010 in the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($ 1,000.00) each.

CRITERIA: The recommendation of students to receive scholarships shall be within the discretion of the Scholarship Committee. This recommendation is subject to the approval of the Board of Directors. Specific points to be considered shall be:

Character and integrity; minimum 2.75 GPA; attainment of junior or senior status in the next academic year; pursuit of a Civil Engineering Bachelor’s Degree in an Ohio accredited program; need for financial assistance; and permanent residence in the state of Ohio.
