This is complexresponsible financial and analytical accounting work in maintaining and reviewing financial accounts and recordsWork is performed under general supervision and involves responsibility for a broad range of accounting activities from initial recording of data to final reports.

Examples of Duties

  • Processes complex billings or adjustments; conducts investigational research on accounts; refers accounts for legal action; classifies new accounts; keeps abreast of changes in accounts that require maintenance

  • Prepares financial work sheets

  • Answers complex questions on account balances

  • Figures commercial billings, final bills, and corrections

  • Prepares monthly reports; keeps records; maintains files connected with work

  • Establishes and maintains procedures for delinquent tax collections.

  • Prepares investigation procedures for refund claims and garnishees. 

  • Preforms all other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent, with considerable experience in accounting work and office practices and procedures. Position requires a combination of training and experience. Requires knowledge of clerical methods used in keeping and auditing fiscal accounts/records and office terminology, procedures and equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of accounting transaction practices and procedures and the ability to learn and apply local ordinances and regulations; ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public; the ability to maintain complex accounting records and prepare reports; the ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions.
