This position will be in the Wastewater Surveillance Lab.
Under direction, is responsible for coordinating the work of others and examining samples of industrial waste, wastewater, storm water, sludge, and other residuals for compliance with governmental regulations; performs related duties as required.
Examples of Work

Supervises employees to include signing performance evaluations, approving leaves, and recommending disciplinary actions;
Oversees and trains laboratory staff in prescribed laboratory techniques and performance of routine tests;
Prepares and reviews periodic reports and data required by regulatory agencies and requested by management;
Designs and implements research projects to recommend changes in laboratory procedures and equipment used;
Performs gravimetric, volumetric, biochemical, physical, instrumental and biological analyses of samples;
Maintains chemical inventory and initiates purchase orders for the laboratory;
Prepares chemicals, reagents and standards for laboratory and plant use;
Reviews and maintains data and records for the laboratory such as for laboratory information system, chemical hygiene plan, safety data sheets for chemicals, and laboratory manuals;
Collects samples for laboratory analyses at various locations;
Determines chemical dosages for plant operations;
Enters analytical data into a computer;
May conduct tours of facility or speak before the public;
May communicate with other government or regulatory agencies.
Possession of a bachelor's degree in chemistry, microbiology, environmental science or a closely related scientific field ANDtwo (2) years of experience in wastewater or environmental laboratory analysis. Substitution(s): A master's degree in one of the above areas may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
