This is a temporary position involving various duties that will either supplement the student’s major field of study &/or provide experience that is a useful addition to the student’s education & meaningful preparation for future professional employment.

Under close supervision, this student will serve as an assistant to the Business & Human Resources (BHR) Administrator & section staff in the performance of various duties (e.g., assists with setup & material distribution for new employee orientation; assists training coordinator in classroom setup & material distribution; uses personal computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Ohio Hiring Management System (OHMS) Recruiting Center) to enter data for Physical Ability Testing (PAT) Reading Comprehension & Math (RCM) assessments & sends out emails; filters applications & finalizes positions; utilizes computer & related software (i.e., Hyland OnBase) to scan & enter vacancy files & maintain employee personnel files). Assists staff on a variety of small projects (e.g., makes copies, assembles information packets, keeps supply of recruitment materials ready for job fairs, organizes files, removes & stores inactive files according to retention schedules); serves as backup in order to answer the switchboard, greet & assist visitors, & complete customer requests).  

Assists with gathering & compiling information for reports using a computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Office); operates copy machine, fax machine, telephone; assists in the filing of district documents.  Performs other work-related duties as assigned (e.g., opens, sorts & distributes incoming/outgoing mail).

This Position is Unclassified per Section 124.11(A)(29).

 

Qualifications

 

Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and in good academic standing.  Student should be enrolled in college degree program directly related to the Human Resources field.

If operating a state-owned vehicle, must show proof of valid driver's license.

  

ALL ANSWERS TO THE SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS MUST BE SUPPORTED BY THE WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PROVIDED ON YOUR CIVIL SERVICE APPLICATION.

MUST BE ENROLLED IN A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY PROGRAM AND IN GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING.

Must show proof of valid driver's license in order to operate a state vehicle.

THIS POSITION IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REMOTE WORK AND WILL BE ON-SITE AT THE DISTRICT 4 OFFICE IN AKRON, OHIO.

This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.

This Position is Unclassified per Section 124.11(A)(29).

The rate of pay is based upon the student's academic status (verification required):

Freshman and Sophomore = $15.46

Junior and Senior = $15.96

Graduate Students = $19.41

 Background Check Information 

The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to appointment to test for illegal drug use. Medical marijuana is prohibited as a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment, per section 3719.01 & 3719.41 of Ohio revised code 

The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check.  Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position.  An individual assessment of an applicant’s prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
