The City is seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Director of the Department of Service and Engineering and to serve as the City Engineer. This position oversees the administration of the Capital Improvement Program, consulting and construction contracts, GIS services and the maintenance of City streets, sewers, public buildings, rights of way, and fleet. The ideal candidate will possess robust project management skills on municipal-type projects, a generalist public administration skillset and be capable of establishing direction for the Department, motivating and coaching talented employees, and collaborating with other City staff and members of the community Ideally, this individual is an effective communicator, possesses the ability to listen, treats people fairly and respectfully, knows how to manage people, is aware of technology’s potential and how it can be used to benefit operations, and is energetic and excited about being in Worthington.
Minimum qualifications include possession of a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, in civil engineering, business administration, public administration or a closely related field and 5-10 years of progressively responsible managerial and administrative experience in public works. Current Certificate of Registration in the State of Ohio as a Registered Professional Engineer, or ability to achieve registration within six months of hire.
