Project Engineer (Plan and Permit Review)

The City of Solon Engineering Department is accepting applications for a full-time Project (Plan and Permit Review) Engineer. This position is Civil Service and a Non-Compete Civil Service Exam will be given by the Civil Service Commission at a date to be determined later.
This position’s primary responsibilities are the reviews of residential, commercial, industrial site plans, and building applications including storm water calculations. Other duties include reviewing permit applications for driveways, sewer repairs and installations, and any other permits reviewed and approved through the Engineering Department. In addition, the position will assist the Project Engineer with any internal infrastructure design projects.
The following are the minimum qualifications required to apply for the Project (Plan and Permit Review) Engineer position:
A valid Ohio Driver’s License
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
Fundamentals of Engineering Certificate (FE)
Ohio Professional Engineer License (preferred, must obtain within one (1) year of the date of hire
Knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
Must be familiar with the entire micro-soft office suite
Applicant must successfully pass a (BMV) check, a background check and a pre-employment drug screen
This position is slotted at Grade K on Solon’s wage scale with a salary range from $58,552.77 to a midpoint of $73,190.96. City benefits include Health Care (Employee participation), prescription, dental, and vision. In addition, benefits include membership of the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System, vacation, sick leave accruals, and select paid holidays.
