As a part of our Transportation Engineering Team, the Traffic Lead is responsible for pursuing and winning work for design efforts and analysis for ODOT projects including roadway corridor studies, road safety audits and highway/bridge rehabilitations. The projects will include traffic modeling, transportation management plans, traffic signals, traffic control devices, pavement markings and temporary traffic control plans.
You will grow and build a traffic department within the Columbus office while supporting, and guiding experienced engineers for projects within the part of the Great Lakes (IN, KY, MI, and OH) region. The best part being a Traffic Lead at Michael Baker is that no two days will be the same. You will face different challenges every day, some of which will be extraordinarily complex. Most days will be spent in the office leading the preparation of engineering designs including:
•Traffic signals, timing plans, traffic control devices, pavement markings and temporary traffic control plans.
•Lighting, fiber-optic, wireless, and Ethernet communications, and security systems.
•Other days you will help prepare technical proposals or meet with client representatives on projects.
•Some days, you will make field visits to project sites to review, investigate and document existing infrastructure conditions or program, operate and manage traffic and ITS devices.
•Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Electrical or Systems Engineering and 15 or more years of progressive traffic and potential ITS design experience. Master’s degree preferred.
•P.E. license in OH or ability to obtain within six months. A PTOE, PTP and/or PMP certification is highly desirable.
•Ability to pursue and win work in Columbus and throughout the Central Ohio region while continuing to build internal relationships.
•Strong English language skills, written and verbal, are essential to long term success in this role.
•Quickly get up to speed on our policy, procedures and relevant software while acquiring an understanding of the company’s service offerings and the client’s standards and procedures relevant to your projects.
•Microsoft Office Suite, knowledgeable with Traffic Engineering software such as HCS, Synchro, TruTraffic, VISSIM, Aimsun, SIDRA, TransCAD.
