ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
Under the supervision of the Service Director, provides general supervision of the operation of the Division of Engineering; supervises personnel; plans and prepares departmental work; trains and instructs personnel; evaluates performance of subordinate personnel; hears and resolves employee complaints as required.
Reviews plans for public improvements; monitors progress of infrastructure construction; administers construction projects.
Advises the City on engineering issues and assists in preparing capital improvement programs.
Attends various City Council, Committee, Board, or Commission meetings as needed; represents the City at meetings of organizations such as TMACOG as assigned.
Prepares budget for engineering division, Public Works projects, and infrastructure as related to the operation of a municipality.
Develops and tracks capital projects involving infrastructure, public utilities, and resurfacing.
Coordinates the work of various technical consultants on projects.
Maintain files, plans, and other appropriate records of all City construction projects.
Assists the Planning and Zoning Division with reviews such as subdivision plans or site plans as needed.
Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, employees, co-workers, and the public.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
May perform construction inspection.
Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties.
Performs other related tasks, duties, and responsibilities as required or assigned.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the City’s vehicle insurance provider; registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio; registration as a Professional Surveyor in the State of Ohio desirable.
QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications:
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with a minimum of seven (7) years engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Familiarity with ADA requirements and experience with municipal engineering projects a plus.
