The City of Broadview Heights is seeking to fill the position of Facilities Manager. The Facilities Manager will be responsible for management and operation of the maintenance of all city buildings, recreation and aquatics facilities and infrastructure, municipal grounds, sewer pumping stations and all related appurt?enances. Job Purpose

This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Public Service in the management and operation of the maintenance of all city buildings, recreation and aquatics facilities and infrastructure, municipal grounds, sewer pumping stations and all related appurtenances. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, schedule and communicate the buildings and grounds custodial, maintenance program, and operation of pumping stations.
  • Provide appropriate reports to the Director of Public Service as directed regarding status of maintenance projects and tasks, schedule projections and employee activities.
  • Coordinate system repairs and monitor system performance.
  • Actively participate in projects
  • Provide appropriate job-specific training to all assigned employees.
  • Maintain professional and customer-focused oral and written communication with management, employees and residents.
  • Monitor the assigned department budget.
  • Ensure established purchase order process.
  • Create, maintain and communicate work and shift schedules.
  • Maintain adequate parts inventory and order items as necessary.
  • Monitor, inspect and approve all completed work for assigned Service Department employees.
  • Manage the performance and conduct of assigned employees and provide input to the Director of Public Service.
  • Oversee contractors
  • Coordinate with the Director of Public Service to provide communication, leadership and other individual and group training for assigned employees.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols.
  • Recordkeeping of OSHA/EPA and other regulatory compliance documents
  • Monitor the vehicles and equipment assigned to the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic writing, computer and mathematics skills.
  • Ability to read drawings/blueprints
  • Working knowledge of purchase order system.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of all facility systems and pumping systems (both sanitary and aquatic) their maintenance and associated parts and procedures.
  • Ability to develop, direct and monitor and adapt tasks and projects to meet schedules and priorities.
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot complex electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems
  • Knowledge and experience in aquatics maintenance
  • CDL Preferred

Working Conditions

Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments and in varying weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

This position requires performing moderate physical activities including lifting moderate weights, bending, climbing and other requirements associated with the position.
