RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs, schedules, reviews and supervises the activities of personnel engaged in forestry, alley, roadway and bridge maintenance and repair work, ground maintenance operations for expressways, parks, boulevards, vacant lots, and traffic control signage. Assigns daily tasks to supervisors; schedules work for crews by priority and availability of manpower and required equipment. Conducts field supervision of crews involved in asphalt resurfacing, maintenance and repairs on roadways and bridges, setup of detours for traffic control, and winter deicing and snow removal operations. Maintains effective recordkeeping systems; communicates safety guidelines and procedures to personnel; implements safety rules and OSHA regulations; resolves citizen complaints; develops and implements employee training programs. Attends City Commission meetings to provide technical and operational information on Division activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet one of the following qualifications:

1. Associate's degree in Business, Management, a Construction related discipline, or a closely related field AND 6 years of experience in roadway construction, roadway maintenance, or roadway repair work. Four of the 6 years of experience must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR
2. Graduation from high school (or G.E.D.) AND 8 years of experience in roadway construction, roadway maintenance, or roadway repair work. Four of the 8 years of experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities or equivalent region.

Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment. Within 120 days of appointment, must obtain and maintain a valid Ohio Class A Commercial Driver's License (C.D.L.), including the qualification to operate a vehicle with air brakes and any other endorsements required by the State of Ohio. Out of state residents must have equivalent license from their state of residence within the prescribed 120 days of appointment.
