Applications for the classified, management position of Building, Housing & Planning Director are available in the office of the Lorain Civil Service Commission, 7th floor of Lorain City Hall, 200 West Erie Avenue Lorain, Ohio beginning March 30, 2017 through Friday, December 29, 2017 through a CONTINUOUS application process.

All applicants must be United States citizens or have legally declared their intentions of becoming one. Applicants must possess a valid Ohio Drivers license to be shown at time of application. Applicants for the position of Director of Building, Housing & Planning must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies or related field; a Master's degree in Urban Studies or related field preferred; Five to eight years of progressively responsible work experience in governmental in community development, housing or building inspection; Two to five years of supervisory experience; Three years experience in public sector fiscal and budget preparation; knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements as they pertain to Housing, Planning and Zoning.
