Applications for this full-time, civil service management position are available in the office of the Lorain Civil Service Commission, 7th floor, Lorain City Hall, on a CONTINUOUS basis beginning Wednesday, March 29, 2017 through Friday, December 29, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office closes from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. everyday.
Applicants must be United States citizens or have legally declared their intentions of becoming one. Must possess a valid Ohio Drivers license to be shown at time of application. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. The Assistant Building Official shall have the following certifications: A Certificate from the Council of American Building Officials as a Certified Building Official, a Certificate from the State of Ohio as a Class I Building Official & Residential Building Inspector, Certificate from ICC (International Code Council) as Certified Building Inspector. Must possess minimum of 7 years construction experience in residential, commercial & industrial construction or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management. The Assistant Building Official shall be required to maintain the requirements for continuing education as set forth by the International Code Council and the State of Ohio Board of Building Standards.
