Waters of the United States (WOTUS) Rulemaking Webcast
Thursday, Feb 14, 3: 30 - 4:30 pm
At Butler Soil and Water Conservation District
Conference Room D, 1802 Princeton Rd, Hamilton, OH 45011
The EPA and the U.S. Department of the Army are proposing revisions to the regulations defining “waters of the United States” that are subject to Clean Water Act authority. Most Clean Water Act programs—including tribal and state water quality certification programs, pollution permits, and oil spill prevention and planning programs—apply only to “waters of the United States.” Rulings by the United States Supreme Court in 2001 and 2006, and resulting interpretations, have sparked confusion and uncertainty regarding which waters are regulated under the Clean Water Act. The agencies’ proposal would replace the 2015 WOTUS Rule with a straightforward definition of “waters of the United States” that would protect the nation’s waterways, help sustain economic growth, and reduce barriers to business development.
The agencies are hosting this webcast to help explain the key elements of the proposal.
