Fernald Preserve Presentation and Luncheon

Description :

Fernald Preserve Presentation,

Tour and Luncheon

Tuesday, June 12, 2018

12:30PM – 2:30 PM

Join Southwest Ohio members to learn more about the transformation of a cold war-era nuclear weapons production site into a 1,050-acre community asset. Remediation at the Fernald Preserve was conducted in accordance with Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) regulations. The site requires operation and maintenance of remedial action systems, environmental monitoring, routine inspection and maintenance, records-related activities, and stakeholder support.

The 10,800 SF visitors center features nine exhibits that tell the story of Fernald’s history and the environmental clean-up project. The design and construction of the Visitors Center incorporated sustainable design principles and achieved Ohio’s first LEED Platinum level certification. Learn more at this informative session and earn one (1) PDH.
